The former Love Island star was apprehended at the airport on 29 December, despite being told to isolate at her hotel following a coronavirus test two days earlier, according to the Royal Barbados Police Force.

The breach of the rules can carry a jail term of up to a year, and a maximum fine of around $50,000 (£18,000).

Holland is understood to have arrived in the country on 27 December with her boyfriend Elliott Love, who according to local media has tested positive for coronavirus and is in quarantine.

The couple had been staying on the south-western coast of the island in Sugar Bay Hotel – an all-inclusive four-star beach resort – in the small village of Hastings, Christ Church.

Holland, 25, pleaded guilty to the charge, and has been released on bail of $20,000 (£7,355), with seven days to pay the fine.

She has since moved hotel and is staying at the Hilton Hotel in Barbados’s capital, Bridgetown.

The former Miss Great Britain is best known for her appearance on Love Island in 2016.

In an earlier statement published by Barbados Today, Holland apologised to the people of Barbados, and called the whole incident “a massive mix up”.

The Foreign Office says British nationals working or travelling abroad should abide by the laws of the country they are in and follow COVID rules.

UK residents currently abroad are not being asked to return home immediately but are being advised to check with their airline or travel operator on arrangements for returning.

England is now in national lockdown, with everyone advised to stay at home wherever possible.

Sky News has contacted Holland’s representatives for comment.
