Weather Warning for Ice Tonight

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice as temperatures are expected to drop overnight.
It is predicted that following a spell of rain, sleet and snow, temperatures will fall quickly allowing ice to form on untreated surfaces. Further showers of rain, sleet and snow will follow in the west on Thursday morning, potentially diluting overnight treatments.
Some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services. Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are possible.
In Cumbria, gritters have been out treating multiple priority routes this afternoon, and will continue into the evening, treating priority routes.
Lancashire County Council says that all priority routes in the Lancashire will be gritted and patrolled this evening.
People are reminded to always drive to the conditions.
The weather warning is in force until 10:00am on Thursday 1st February.
