Two people have died after a fire broke out at a house where “multiple explosions” were reported, Suffolk Police has said.
The fire started at the bungalow just after midday and caused the destruction of most of the home in Lidgate.
Pictures of the house show the entire roof has been destroyed.
Utility companies attended the cordoned off area and carried out checks to ensure the safety of other nearby properties on The Street.
An investigation into the cause of the explosions and fire is underway.
The two people who died were initially reported as “unaccounted for” by officials.
A spokesman from Suffolk Council said: “Four fire engines attended the scene after reports of an explosion which took just over an hour to be put out.
“At least 75% of the building was damaged before it was dealt with.”
:: Police have asked anyone with information to contact the force on 101 quoting reference CAD 122 of 7 May.
