A teenage girl has died after getting trapped under a boat and a man also died
in another incident off the coast, say police in Cornwall.
The girl was in a small group in a rigid-hulled inflatable boat near Porthilly Rock in Wadebridge on Monday afternoon.
Police said the air ambulance and coastguard rescued three people and took them to the lifeboat house before heading to Treliske Hospital.
However, the girl was later pronounced dead. Her next of kin have been informed.
In another incident, at around 2.30pm, a man was pulled from the sea by a member of the public at Treyarnon Bay in Padstow.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and police were still trying to identify him.
Devon and Cornwall Police said they were also called to a third incident at around the same time, following reports surfers had pulled a man unconscious from the sea in Porthtowan, Truro.
The air ambulance took him to Treliske Hospital.
Police said he was in a serious condition and that next of kin were with him.
Chief Inspector Ian Thompson said it had been “a very tough day for local emergency services” and appealed for anyone with information about the incidents to get in contact.
