Royal baby: Queen ‘beaming’ as she is asked about her new great-grandchild

Members of the Royal Family have been sending their congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after the birth of their new baby boy.
A “beaming” Queen was hosting an event at Windsor Castle – the same royal residence where Harry and Meghan are spending their second day with the child – when she was asked about the new addition to the family.
“Life is good for Your Majesty?” she was asked.
The smiling Queen replied: “Yes, thank you.”
“Congratulations. Another great-grandchild!” she was told.
The Queen replied happily: “Yes, I know.”
She was then asked: “How many of them have you got now?” before replying “Eight”.
Buckingham Palace said on Monday that the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were “delighted” at the news of the birth of Harry and Meghan’s baby son.
Adding to the royal reaction, William and Kate – Baby Sussex’s auntie and uncle, offered their well-wishes to the new parents, during a walkabout in Greenwich, southeast London.
William said: “Obviously thrilled, absolutely thrilled, and obviously looking forward to seeing them in the next few days when things have quietened down.
“I’m very pleased and glad to welcome my own brother into the sleep deprivation society that is parenting.”
Kate added: “As William said, we’re looking forward to meeting him and finding out what his name’s going to be so so it’s really exciting for both of them and we wish them all the best.
“These next few weeks are always a bit daunting the first time round so we wish them all the best.”
Asked if he had any pearls of wisdom for his younger brother as a father of three, William laughed and said: “Plenty of advice, plenty of advice, but no I wish him all the best and I hope the next few days they can settle down and enjoy having a newborn in their family and the joys that come with that.”
The Duchess of Cambridge added: “It’s such a special time, obviously with Louis and Charlotte just having had their birthdays it’s such a great time of year to have a baby, spring is in the air.”
It is the fourth grandchild for the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, who are currently in Germany on a tour of Berlin.
Giving a short but sweet statement during a walkabout, Prince Charles said “We couldn’t be more delighted at the news and we’re looking forward to meeting the baby when we return.”
The Duchess of Cornwall was also presented with gifts and balloons during a visit to a clinic in the German capital.
Details around the latest royal arrival are still thin on the ground and we still have no word of a name for Baby Sussex, nor have we seen a photograph of the family – however a photo call is expected as early as Wednesday.
