Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall release new festive photo

Written by on 25/12/2020

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall have released a new photo to mark the festive period.

Charles and Camilla are pictured with shepherd’s crooks at their Birkhall home on the Balmoral estate in Scotland.

They appear well dressed for a day in the country, with Charles also carrying a pair of binoculars.

The couple are avid walkers, and the countryside around their Aberdeenshire home provides many opportunities to get out and about.

The photo was taken by a member of their staff.

This year, the Royal Family are celebrating Christmas separately during due to COVID-19, rather than gathering as usual at Sandringham.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are having a quiet Christmas at Windsor Castle, where the monarch is expected to attend a private chapel service.

Traditionally, they host their family at Sandringham in Norfolk, where hundreds of locals turn out to watch them attend a local church.

Charles and Camilla are spending Christmas Day at Highgrove in Gloucestershire, while the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be at their country home, Anmer Hall.

William and Kate tweeted on Christmas morning to say their thoughts were with “those of you who are spending today alone, those of you who are mourning the loss of a loved one, and those of you on the frontline”.

Increasing coronavirus infection rates have meant millions in the south of England have moved to Tier 4 restrictions, forcing people to massively scale back their Christmas plans.
