Man City make final Riyad Mahrez offer in cash-plus-player deal

Written by on 31/01/2018

Manchester City have made a final cash-plus-player offer for Riyad Mahrez worth an estimated £65m, according to Sky sources.

The identity of the Manchester City player is not yet known, but Leicester City are understood to be considering the offer – which is Man City’s fourth bid for the winger.

Mahrez handed in a transfer request on Tuesday in an effort to push through a move to the Etihad, just as he did in the summer, with Leicester having already turned down three bids from Manchester City.

The Algeria international is frustrated he has not been allowed to follow other members of Leicester’s title-winning side of 2016, N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater, in moving to a bigger club.

But Sky Sports News has been told some of Leicester’s current players are angry at Mahrez’s failure to turn up for training on Tuesday, and his decision not to join up with the squad for Wednesday’s game against Everton.

Mahrez still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract at the King Power Stadium and Leicester have maintained they would not sell the player in January.

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola refused to comment on any potential move for Mahrez when speaking on Tuesday, but admitted he holds an interest in a lot of “good players”.
