Dele Alli signs new Tottenham contract to 2024

Written by on 31/10/2018

Dele Alli has signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract at Tottenham to remain at the club until 2024.

Sky Sports News revealed on Friday that Alli, whose previous deal was set to expire in 2022, had reached an agreement over fresh terms with the club after indicating his desire to stay.

The England midfielder returned from injury as a substitute in Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at Wembley on Monday having missed more than a month of action with a hamstring problem.

He follows captain Harry Kane and manager Mauricio Pochettino as another high-profile figure at Spurs to commit their long-term future to the club in recent months.

Alli said he was delighted with the new deal.

“Would like to say a big thank you to everyone at the club – chairman, manager, all my team-mates and the fans for their constant support,” he said on Instagram.

“I’ve loved my time at Spurs so far and I’m very excited to see what the future holds! #COYS”

The official announcement also comes after Pochettino said he had “the worst feeling” he has had at Tottenham in the build-up to their defeat by City – despite leading the club to their best Premier League start.

Poch: Our priorities different to City

Pochettino said the club “need to be more focused on winning titles”.

Alli, 22, joined Spurs from MK Dons in 2015 for £5m and has gone on to score 48 goals in 153 competitive appearances.
