Dele Alli remains doubtful for England after training alone

Dele Alli remains a doubt for England’s second World Cup game against Panama despite training alone on Thursday.
The Tottenham midfielder missed the group training session as England’s medical team closely monitor the thigh strain he suffered in the win over Tunisia on Monday.
A photograph of a note carried by assistant manager Steve Holland in that session was leaked to reporters which showed a plan to play in a 3-5-2 formation against Panama on Sunday, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek in place of Alli in midfield.
The FA released images of Alli training by himself later that day, while the 22-year-old was also pictured in a weights session with the rest of the squad on Friday.
In line with manager Gareth Southgate’s policy, England are not expected to reveal whether Alli takes part in full England training behind closed doors in Repino on Friday before the team head to Nizhny Novgorod for the Panama fixture.
The session is closed off to media as Southgate carries out specific work on tactics and shape to prepare for Panama.
Alli is not expected to play if he misses the session.
