Bentley valued at £167,000 towed from Manchester city centre after uninsured driver ‘refused to hand over keys to police’

Written by on 06/07/2020

This is the moment an uninsured driver’s luck ran out.

His white Bentley Continental GT, valued at £167,000, was removed by police after it was found parked illegally on double yellow lines in Manchester city centre on Sunday.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police’s city centre force located the driver “in a nearby bar”, they said in a tweet.

The man, who was in a Peaky Blinders-themed bar on Peter Street, was “trying to be smart”.

Police said he “refused to hand over the keys” to the luxury vehicle, “thinking we’d leave his Bentley Continental GT where it was”.

“How wrong, car was dragged onto back of recovery truck #NoInsurance,” the force added.

A recovery vehicle was called and the car was taken away to the police compound on the back of a recovery truck, pictures of which were posted by the force on Twitter.
