Glover and husband, naturalist Steve Backshall, announced they have called their son Logan James David Backshall.

She took her baby on a trip to the Cornish coast, where she is from, showing him her gold postbox, painted to mark the medal she won at the London 2012 Olympic games.

In a tweet she wrote: “Finally decided on a name! Introducing Logan James David Backshall. Thanks everyone for your lovely messages.”

She later added: “6 years ago today #heatherstanning and I won the first @teamgb gold of #London2012. Tonight I’ll be exchanging national anthems for nappy changes..and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Logan’s first trip to the gold post box to celebrate.”

Welcoming their son on 24 July, Backshall tweeted a picture of the newborn’s foot, with the words “the biggest adventure begins”.

The couple had announced they were expecting twins, but shared tragic news in April that one of the babies had been miscarried.

Glover wrote: “We’ve had the hard news that one baby hasn’t made it but we are very excited and hopeful for the remaining baby to arrive this summer.”

Glover, 32, and Backshall, 45, married in September 2016 after dating for about two years.

Glover and her rowing partner Heather Stanning are the first British female rowers to defend their Olympic crown, taking gold in London 2012 and again in Rio in 2016.

Backshall has been a wildlife television presenter since 1997 and has won two BAFTAs for his work.
